Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance

Our quality aims are to ensure continuous improvement by offering effective development, assessment and evaluation of the teaching and learning and its management.

We aim to ensure that all learners have a successful, enjoyable, stimulating and consistently high-quality learning experience which will include achieving the qualifications and learning aims detailed on their Individual Learning Plans.

We achieve this by:

  • Quality assurance and improvement
  • Processes and procedures
  • Training and support
  • Good practice and the sharing of this
  • Staff induction
  • Evaluation
  • Culture - ownership

Quality Management System (QMS)

This is a set of co-ordinated activities to direct and control an organisation in order to continually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its performance. CLS has a robust Quality Management System and some examples of activities and supporting software involved within our QMS are listed below:

  • Observation of Learning, Teaching and Assessment (CLS)
  • Supportive Observations (CLS)
  • Quality Observations of the learner journey (KT&A only)
  • Internal Quality Assurance (IQA or IV)
  • Learner Voice/Survey/Course Evaluations (CLS)
  • Performance Management Model including Personal Development Plans (CLS)
  • Data timeliness and accuracy

Observation of Learning, Teaching and Assessment

The CLS OLTA scheme is a 'tutor' supportive scheme that contributes to the raising of the quality of learning, teaching and assessment in order to enhance learners' learning experiences. It measures the standard of learning, teaching and assessment against the criteria laid out in the Education Inspection Framework (September 19) and contributes towards a holistic formal performance management approach. This quality measurement applies to teaching staff.

Quality Observations of the Learner Journey (KT&A)

The CLS work-based observation scheme is a 'tutor' supportive scheme that contributes to the raising of the quality standard in order to enhance learners' experiences. It measures the standards against the criteria laid out in the Education Inspection Framework (September 2019) and contributes towards a holistic formal performance management approach. This quality measurement applies to teaching staff.
